Bulletproof 2.0litre Diesel Cdti engine producing 131bhp whilst returning 40 - 50mpg, this is the most powerful diesel which Rover produced and the same powerplant as in the BMW 320D, it also falls into the lower Euro 3 emissions category, which is important as Road Tax prices continue to rise.

I bought this car on 26th June with the intention of using it to replace a Van. With fuel expenses so high these days, I can't justify running a large engine van and a car, so I decided to opt for a diesel estate car as a dual purpose to serve both business and pleasure. Unfortunately, and rather embarrassingly, it has not been as big inside as I expected and therefore I need something a little bigger such as one of those boring MPV's
The Rover 75 was made during the period when BMW were in control of Rover and their influence and build quality shows through!. The engine is so smooth and refined and the interior is comfortable and will easily suit somebody who wants to use it for long journeys as it is a very fine motorway mile muncher and its looks easily put in in the executive category (from the front my neighbour at first thought i'd bought a Merc!). BMW Quality at Rover Prices, try and find a BMW or Merc Estate of the same age and mileage at these prices, and then compare the features and extras in that comparison.
These engines are easily capable of 200k miles and above, so at 90k the engine is barely run in. A Timing chain means that no expensive cambelt is required, so no worries of £300 or £400 cambelt changes every 40k miles as with VW's and Audis, thats a huge saving on maintenance alone during the life of a diesel engine.
There are some stamps in the service history, however since the demise of Rover in 2005 dealer servicing was / is now non existant. I have managed to trace and contact the previous company owner via the V5, whose transport fleet manager has kindly sent me an email confirming the cars history, and that it has been serviced in line with the stated service intervals, as you would expect from a company owned car used by upper management. I will also provide a copy of this email and their contact details to the new buyer.
The last service was carried out at the end of May 2008, when the oil and filters were changed, and the hand brake adjusted. An Hpi printout is also supplied. Tyres have plenty of wear all around, and a couple of them look very new.
MOT - May 30th 2009
No Tax, sadly, but the car falls into a low emissions category and 6 months costs just £80
Since the majority of the mechanical and engine parts are made by BMW, there is no shortage of spares, as they are shared across the 320D range. Same oil, air filters etc. The MG-Rover name is also supposed to be starting again at Longbridge later this rear, and the 75 Tourer design rumoured to be amongst the models for re-introduction so these cars are likely to be back in vogue very soon - grab yourself a bargain!.
Whats Bad
The car is 5 years old and has covered 90k miles, so there is the odd scratch here and there, however before buying this car, I looked at loads of others around the same price range and bodywork wise this is easily the best. I've perhaps been a little over-critical in this description.
There is a key scratch on the rear nearside door, its not really that noticable thanks to the dark colour and metallic paintwork, however I had a verbal quotation from "Chipsaway" mobile paint repairs for £96 to correct it, so its hardly a big job, most people probably wont bother as it doesn't spoil the car and is only visible when looking for it!.
The offside rear alloy is a little kerbed, but i've seen far worse on newer cars. Again this can be refurbished by mobile companies at competitive prices.
The odd stone chip and surface scratch here and there. If you are a perfectionist, then chipsaway would probably take car of this too. I wouldn't bother though, because I am being picky, it isn't that noticable!, and stone chips affect all cars, even brand new ones.
Some scratches on the surface of the drivers side window, this does not affect vision and neither is it an MOT Failure
Go on!, buy it before I get too attached to the damn thing!.
Please note that since i've only had the car for a few days, the V5 is still being processed in my name as the new keeper. However I am more than happy to take a deposit from the new buyer, and will hold the car until the V5 arrives, which should only take a further few days. I do however have the new keeper supplement, from the garage I bought it from.
This is a genuine and very well specified car, at a genuine price. Viewing can take place by prior arrangement during weekday evenings (Wed - Fri) or at the Weekend. The car is also advertised elsewhere.
