Group Engineering Manager (T and D Projects)
Group Engineering Manager for T and D projects - Permanent Position - Based in Sydney Australia - £180 Australia dollars = £100k UK Sterling.
Our client is a manufacturer and supplier of quality Electricity Transmission and Distribution products. The company has manufacturing plants in Australia (Sydney), China (Yangzhou), Thailand (Bangkok) and Malaysia (Darul Ehsan), as well as sales offices in New Zealand (Auckland), North America and Hong Kong.
The company supplies its own branded products to both utilities and contractors throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, and the Asia Pacific region. Via its China and Thai operations, it also supplies on an OEM basis, fittings and products for numerous European and American companies involved in the electricity transmission and distribution sector.
Objective: Oversee Engineering Activities for our client, including product development, Technical Sales support and presentations, contract and other testing and maintenance of product design standards.
Staff reporting: Functional responsibility for overseas offices with engineering capability.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Work with customers to understand and interpret their requirements so a detailed specification can be developed, solution designed and costed.
Control and coordinate through local Engineering staff, all manufacturing activities (China and Thailand) for the achievement of short and long term business objectives and increased profit.
Establish and coordinate objectives and programs within the context of the overall product development plan and, where appropriate, recommend standards and set targets.
Develop appropriate testing programs to ensure success of customer acceptance tests.
Review product line with the objective of adding new products to capitalise of customer demands utilising technological advancements and obsolescence.
Understand the Quality System and practice its principles in an effort to provide quality products to customers. Investigate defects and potential defects and implement countermeasures. Ensure QSR compliance.
Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure budgets, reports and forecasts and ensure they are presented in a timely manner.
Monitor the activities of the development plan according to overall strategies.
Evaluate the performance and efficiency of staff and procedures.
Coordinate subordinate and indirect staff to optimise the use of human and material resources to achieve goals.
Monitor expenditure and prepare forward planning of plant requirements for future projects in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time available and staff requirements.
Develop operational systems to assist control of quality, production costs and raw materials inventories.
Maintain awareness of technical and financial aspects of the plant function to provide maximum service and support to plant expansion and production improvements as directed.
Control staff selection, training, development and utilisation.
Ensure adherence to manufacturing standards, application of methods, production standards and safety programs.
