Community Liaison Officer
NOISE Lab is a Community Interest Company (CIC) established as a trading arm for the award winning charity NOISEfestival.com. The NOISE Free Arts Lab shop in Manchester city centre with initial funding from Manchester City Council, will open from late November 2009 until March 2010. Inside this multi-functional space NOISE will:
• Allow NOISE artists to sell original work such as clothes, jewellery, ceramics, photographs and accessories.
• Host free creative exhibitions, seminars, workshops, portfolio reviews and other events.
• Offer creative opportunities and the transfer of skills to local and visiting creatives, communities and students.
• Be a place where young people, particularly those disadvantaged by their geographical location, their lack of formal education or their lack of contacts within the Creative Industries, can receive information, support and encouragement about their futures.
NOISE Lab is looking for a Community Liaison Officer who can promote these objectives to young people, and those who work with young people, across Greater Manchester, including community groups, schools, colleges and universities. This role will see you reach out to those who may not have otherwise heard of NOISEfestival.com, to promote the free creative events that will be staged in the ‘Free Arts Lab’. You will also play a vital role in increasing audiences, particularly those who are hard to reach, to the city centre Lab.
Main Duties
• Manage communication to the NOISE Community database about events and activities in the NOISE Free Arts Lab
• Devise new and exciting ways to expand the NOISE Community database
• Visit community groups, schools, colleges and universities across Greater Manchester to promote NOISE and publicise the NOISE Free Arts Lab
• Identify and access new sectors of the Greater Manchester community that may be benefit from involvement with the NOISE Free Arts Lab
• Develop campaigns for promoting NOISE and the ‘Free Arts Lab’ to 16 – 30 year olds across the UK
Skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships on behalf of NOISE
• Interest and background in the creative industries
• Previous experience of community engagement, especially with young people
• Own transport would be useful, but is not essential

Part time (20 -25 hours per week)
