The worst thing that can happen to any animal owner is that their pet goes missing. I work for a 24hr veterinary practice and we are always getting stray cats and dogs brought into us via dog wardens or mop. As we are a hospital if the animal is injured then they come to us. Most animals don't have a micro chip or tag on their collars so they are never re-united with their owners
The strays we get in come from all over manchester and other parts of the area, so yours might have ended up there too.
If you have lost your cat or dog then its worth ringing PetMedics 0161 794 4999 and asking if any strays have been brought in, if there hasn't then ask to leave some details on a lost form. They will then go in the lost folder.
Other places to try ringing are the dog wardens, Leigh Animal Sanctuary, Manchester Dogs Home and your local police station.
