Experienced or junior book keeper sought for privately owned company based in Altrincham. Salary negotiable but probably between £15,000 and £22,000 + potential share ownership.

We are looking for someone with skills in payroll, double entry book keeping, repayments, accruels, work in progress etc. AAT qualifications would be ideal but not essential, as long as you can do the aforementioned.

More than that we are looking for someone with initiative and work ethic. Working for a long established but small company - reliablity is very important as your clients will be relying on you. Your work will involve (our) office based book keeping, perhaps some on site work at clients sites. You will need to answer incoming queries and have a good work rate. more than that we are looking for someone who will suggest improvements and make decisions and be able to guide clients in the right direction on all but the most complex matters.

You will need to have had exposure to manual book keeping as well as Sage and other major accounting packages - though if everything else is perfect, new software skills can be taught as most packages operte along similar principles.

Working hours are flexible to a degree though it is a full time position of ideally 37.5 horus (could be slightly less for the right person).

We would consider someone without much experience if they could exhibit the desire to learn, an aptitude to learn quickly and ambition to get on - and if they brought other life skills and business skills / commercial awareness to the table. Alternatively we would consider someone with more experience - either who has been out of the market for a while, or ideally someone who is looking for the next move - towards a senior position / perhaps part ownership of a business, but does not have that opportunity currently.

The role will suit someone who has been a book keeper, accounts assistant, part qualified accountant - or accountant - who feels they can contribute to the company and wants to be a big fish in a small pond. The critical factors are high competency skills in Sage and manual book keeping and the ability to be comfortable in client facing situations - providing solutions to clients. Other desirable skills would be Quick Books and Myob.
