Art & Textiles Technician
Hays Education are currently looking for an Art & Textiles Technician to work at secondary school in the Rochdale area. The role involves the following duties:
- Basic maintenance of workshop and machinery tools
- Management of Art resources
- Supporting staff in the use of ICT, including CADCAM
- Ordering of resources and stock as instructed
- Maintaining an inventory and management of materials and stock
- Use of heat treatment facilities - brazing, welding and forging
- Setting up and operation of centre lathes, wood lathes, circular saw and planers
- Assisting in the preparation of resources for lessons
- Reporting of faulty machinery to Curriculum Leader and liaising with outside contractors where appropriate
- Maintaining classroom displays
Technicians must be able to work with young people and colleagues and have the ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload. You will have excellent communication skills, a good level of education and strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Excellent knowledge of design and technology equipment
- Experience of working in a school is preferred
- knowledge of ICT
- Willingness to undertake relevant training for this role
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Positive outlook
- Own transport is preferable but public transport is no bar to work
