Date posted: Thursday 1st October

THE GEL PROJECT
The Gel project is an innovative and exciting scheme set up by the Bristish Red Cross, The aim is to bring together young people from the Manchester area with young asylum seekers and refugees and establish a peer project.
Gel is split into 2 sections, the first part will focus on supporting new arrivals to the country. Currently in Manchester there are lots of unaccompanied young Refugees and asylum seekers. Often they are isolated, lonley and overwhelmed. The Gel project will welcome these new arrivals and offer mentoring to help them adjust to Manchester. Once the new arrivals feel confident and want to get involved more they can start working on the second part of the programme.
The second part of Gel is more project based. The projects will be based on peer education. mentoring and befriending. For example certian activities may include thinking of creative ways to support the new arrivals in the first project, So you can do such this as create a guide to Manchester or cooking classes, to make them feel at home. We also be focussing on larger projects such as World AIDS Day.

Are you aged between 16-19 and have a passion to befriend and mentor people from different backgrounds, if so we would love to hear from you
